For those senior citizens able and willing to exercise, an early morning paper route can be just what the doctor ordered. All routes are 7 days a week, so retired couples are encouraged to apply. Route times normally start at 3am and must be finished by 6am. There are both large and small routes, foot and motor routes, and a senior citizens can make anywhere from $200-$800 a month.

Senior citizens must be fit enough to finish the paper route, as these positions do not allow for many sick days. The biggest drawback is the Sunday Edition, with the added weight (and 6 months of questionable weather in Iowa), a newspaper route can take its toll.
