Are Our Natural Resources Becoming Limited?

UNIT 2 HOMEWORK

As the population across the world explodes, so does the demand for our natural resources. Some of the natural resources are essential for our survival, or at least to keep out current civilization on the move. There are three levels that can be affected by our natural resources becoming limited. One is the individual level, how will it affect me? The second is at the community level, how will it affect my friends, family, and neighborhood? The third is at the population level, how is it going to affect the country and the world?

Think about the individual level, it is all about me level. What happens when our supply of oil, coal, trees, fish, and water become so limited that we can no longer use them? How will this affect me? If the oil is gone then I can not drive my car or hear my house. If coal is no longer available to me, I can not heat my house. If all my trees are gone my electric bill goes sky high because there is no shade. If there are no trees in my yard I can’t see the wild life that would have made that tree their home. Once the fish are gone what’s left? Cows, eating beef all the time would be so boring. One of the most important water, how would I survive with water to hydrate my body.

Let’s take a look at the second level, our community. Oil, coal, and water would cause a riot if we were unable to get it in our town. No heat or electricity and no fuel for our cars, everyone would be arguing and then that would escalate. Again with the shade of the trees we could become so hot, that we could fight our friends and family. Without water we would dehydrate and would kill one another for a glass. We would be at war with ourselves.

The population level is the worst to think about, all I see are dead soldiers. Think about our husbands, wives, brothers, and fathers killing someone else’s husband, wife, brother, or father over the rights to a fresh water spring because we are all thirsty. Could you imagine? What about the trees and the right to have fish for dinner, is this limited resource worth all out soldiers dieing? What about a resource we have in the past fought over, coal? Do we want to die for the use of electricity? The best is last, oil. We are killing and dieing everyday for oil. Why? Talk about the population on the decline; if we froze, starved, or died due to dehydration we would be the limited resource.

I think it’s time to find a new way. A way that will not use up the earth’s resources or one that can save our blue planet. Solar and hydro power should be put into use as soon as possible, if the government would help with the conversion, I bet a lot more of our population would be happy to accept the change.
