Bob’s Big Boy is Back in Pasadena!

Pasadena, Tuna Melt

Good news for all of you Pasadena residents who miss the cool 50s and 60s style Bob’s Big Boy diner, because one just opened on January 22, 2010 at 899 E. Delmar Blvd. in Pasadena, just off S. Lake Avenue. Owned by Philip MacDonald, the original owner of the Bob’s Big Boy in Burbank (which is still doing a brisk business), it will bring back all those good memories of old-fashioned dishes like chili size spaghetti and fat, juicy chili burgers and fries. Renowned for their classic burgers, sandwiches and dinners, they also offer excellent old-fashioned breakfasts like the Big Boy scramble which comes with three scrambled eggs mixed with ham, fresh green pepper, onion, tomato, topped with cheddar cheese and served with hash browns or home fries and your choice of either toast, English muffin or country biscuits for only $7.89. They also have the Bob’s big ham steak breakfast, steak and eggs breakfast, or country fried steak and eggs breakfast. Their breakfast menu also includes the option to build your own omelette ($7.89), their signature 3 egg omelettes, waffles, hotcakes and French toast (from $5.79 to $7.99).

For lunch, you can enjoy a variety of salads, soup, onion rings, French fries, baked potato or your choice of no less than eight burgers (including a veggie burger or turkey burger) for less than eight dollars, or your choice of charbroiled chicken sandwich, traditional club sandwich, tender beef dip, fillet of fish sandwich, turkey bacon melt, a BLT, Philly steak sandwich, turkey breast sandwich, tuna melt or a veggie melt (from $7.29 to $8.29) , which are all served with your choice of French fries, coleslaw or fruit.

Their dinner menu includes Pappy Parker’s fried chicken, charbroiled chicken breast, chicken Parmigiana, top sirloin steak, country fried steak, salmon fillet, golden fried shrimp, fried fish dinner, spaghetti with marinara sauce, and spaghetti with meatballs (from $7.89 to $10.39). The dinners are served with your choice of soup or salad, potato and vegetable, with the exception of the pasta dishes which are served with a dinner salad and grilled garlic bread.

And don’t forget their famous shakes, malts and root beer floats, or sample one of their hot fudge ice cream cake, super Sundaes, selection of pies, fresh fruit or New York cheesecake for dessert.

With their top-of-the-line chefs on duty to offer you quick service, their experienced, friendly staff and nostalgic 50s and 60s rock music, it makes for a comfortable and delicious meal. They have decorated the restaurant with huge reproductions of groovy black-and-white photographs from early Pasadena, which takes you back to the past, which contrasts with their futuristic, green CFL lighting, energy efficient appliances and air conditioning, and the low flush toilets in the super clean restrooms.

Bob’s Big Boy is proud to be involved with the Pasadena community through their charity of the month program, The Bob’s “It Takes Two” local monthly charity. Bob’s doubles the donations to a worthy Pasadena charity, which changes every month. For August, the Pasadena Humane Society and Wiggle Waggle Walk has been chosen as the charity of the month, both of these organizations contribute to the care of shelter animals in Pasadena. Every $25.00 that’s donated can help care for a homeless animal for one day.
