Ways to Decorate Your Locker

Your locker is your private area to store your schoolbooks, accessories, coats, and whatnot, and how you keep your locker is a reflection of the person you are. An organized person more than likely will keep their school locker neat and clean. An unorganized person keeps everything but the kitchen sink! No matter how neat or clean your locker is or isn’t, most kids have one thing in common. They want to decorate the inside of their locker to express what they like and who they are.

There are easy ways to decorate your locker that won’t cause permanent damage, and these ways to decorate a locker won’t be difficult to remove at the end of the school year. Try the following fun and easy ways to decorate your school locker. After seeing your school locker, everyone will want to decorate their locker by adding their very own personal touches and locker décor.

Mirror, Mirror on My Door

A lot of kids put mirrors on the insides of their locker doors, but you don’t have to settle for a plain and boring locker mirror. Jazz up an ordinary locker mirror by trimming it with decorative add-ons. Glue on colorful feathers, sequins, faux jewels, shells, polished stones, or any other cool embellishments you want.

Another idea for decorating a locker mirror involves trimming it with glitter. Protect the mirror with a sheet of paper before beginning, and protect your work surface with newspaper. Coat the frame with spray-on adhesive, and sprinkle it with fine glitter in a color of your choice. You’ll have a really cool decorative framed mirror for your locker, and no one else will have one exactly like yours.

Picture This

Honor your best buds by posting their pictures inside your locker door. If you have a laminator, laminate photos of your friends, and attach self-adhesive magnets to the backs. Randomly place the photos inside the door, and you’ll see your friends smiling faces every time you open your locker.

If you don’t have a laminator, don’t despair. You can still display photos of your friends on your locker door. Buy inexpensive wallet-size frames or make your own. All you need are clear acrylic sheets, pony beads, scissors, clear tape, peel and stick magnets, and rubber cement.

Simply cut out two acrylic sheets of the exact same size to cover the photo and overlap it by about a half-inch on each side. Use a soft clean cloth to carefully wipe away any fingerprints from the photo and the acrylic sheets. Center the photo between the sheets, and apply a small dot of rubber cement to the back corners of the photo. Apply clear tape around the edges of the acrylic sheets to hold them in place, and attach a peel and stick magnetic strip to the back.

Make the frame by gluing colored pony beads around the perimeter to cover the tape. Let the glue dry completely before hanging it in your locker.

Stick-on Décor

Do you have old magnetic calendars that aren’t of any value? Cover old magnetic calendars and magnetic ads with pictures of your choice. Simply cut the pictures you want from your favorite magazines and make some really cool stick-on pictures for your locker.

Cut out pictures you like from your favorite magazines and glue them to thin magnetic sheets with rubber cement. Let the rubber cement dry completely, and cut around the edges of the photos to create unique shapes. Decorate your locker with magnetic skateboards, ramps, guitars, cartoon characters, or your favorite stars. The choice is completely yours.

Do You Like Flowers?

If you like flowers, fill the inside of your locker door with a garden of artificial posies. Buy artificial flowers, and remove the flower heads from their stems. Glue them to magnets with hot glue, and stick them on the inside of your locker door. Stick a flower-scented air-freshener beneath the upper shelf to add realistic scent to your flower-filled locker.

Words and Phrases

Do you have a certain catchphrase you use all the time? You can stick that phrase to the inside of your locker door! Simply cut out large letters and/or words from a magazine to complete words or phrases of your choice. Glue the letters or words to a magnetic sheet, and when the glue dries, cut out the words or letters. Stick them to the inside of your locker door to decorate your locker and express yourself any way you want.
