How to Set Up a TeamSpeak Server

TeamSpeak is a program that allows dialogue between multiple users connected to the same server. The application is specially designed to operate in the background and is particularly useful when playing network games such as World of Warcraft or other mmorpgs. The transmission quality and bandwidth can be configured according to the speed of your internet connection. This tutorial will cover how to configure the TeamSpeak server.

1 – Installing TeamSpeak server

Once you’ve visited the official website, after downloading the software and running the executable, click “Yes” to continue.

Click “Next” again. Click “Finish” to complete the installation and start TeamSpeak 2 server.

2 – Setting TeamSpeak server

If your XP firewall is activated you will see a warning before it launches.

Click on “Unblock” to access TeamSpeak Server.

Passwords have been created for your TeamSpeak Server. The most important being the “superadmin” which owns all rights. It’s through this that we connect then note the password provided to you. All of this information is saved in the file “server.log” in case you forgot to note it down somewhere.

The administration interface is a web interface and is very easy to use. Right click on the icon TeamSpeak in the bottom right of your taskbar and then click “Administration”.

Now you arrive at your web interface. At first you must login, by using the ID “superadmin” and the password that was provided for this account earlier.

Click on “Login” once the identification process is finished, you’ll then have a welcome messag.

3 – Adding a server

A default server will have been established; it is called “TeamSpeak Server”. The login “admin” and password that was provided at the beginning is used to administer the server. We will now see how to add a new one. To do this click on the “Servers” then choose “add server”.

You’ll get a form to complete:

– Server Name: This is the name of your server. Enter whatever name you like.

– ServerWelcomeMessage: This is the welcome message from the server, also put what you ever you want here.

– ServerPassword: Here you do not have to specify a password, you don’t have to enter a password. If you do not then any person may enter.

– ServerType: Here you must specify whether your server is local (Clan Server) or public (Public Server).

– Server UDP Port: Here you must specify the port to be used to reach your server. In case you want your server public, remember that you must open a port in your router if you have one.

Once everything is complete, click on “Add”. The server has been created, click “Continue”.

Finally you must start your server by clicking on “start”.

4 – Adding a client / admin on the server

To add a client / admin click “User manager”.

Click “add client” and then enter the user name (LoginName) and Password (Password).

Check “ServerAdmin” if you want the client to administer the server that we just created. If you do not check this box, the user will not be an administrator.

Click on “add”.

The user “client” was added to the server. You can click “Continue”.

Note that the menu “Server Permissions” allows you to set a number of settings for your server. You can discover these settings yourself, but it is not necessary.

5 – Adding a superadmin

We will now see how to add a superadmin. To do this click on the “superadmin manager” then click “add client”

Choose a login and password.

Click “add” to complete and then click “Continue”

Your new superadmin has now been added.

If you want to change your password later, you can click “edit”.

Your TeamSpeak Server is now complete!
