How to Make a Scrabble Tile Necklace

Scrapbooking Paper

Step 1: you can either buy scrabble tiles from the store. They cost around $14 per game but that gives you 100 pieces to work with or you can go to a garage sale or go to goodwill or a vintage store and get a box of them pretty cheap. Then you want to get some Scrapbooking paper that you like. Also if you have a printer at home you can get Matte photo paper and get some images off line so graphic designs sell sheets of little images that are made for scrabble tiles and print them out. You want to get modge podge this is a great glue to use and also diamond glaze. Then you will need a scrapbook paper cutter. It looks like a pen with a little razor at the end. This is so much easier then using any other form to cut the paper. The last thing that you will need to get are bails. You can get these at places like Hobby lobby or you can buy the in bulk online if you want to make a few of these necklaces.

Step 2: Get everything set out that you will be using. Then have a pencil on hand.Put the scrabble tile on the back side of the paper so that no one can see were you will trace around the outside of the scrabble tile.

Step 3: get out your paper cutter and cut along the line that you trace. Then you should have a little square. Get out the modge podge and put it on the side of the scrabble tile, that dose not have a letter. Then place the paper on the back. Let it sit a few minutes about five and it should be semi dry. When it is dry get out a file a metal finger nail file works great and saw off all the small pieces of paper that may have gone alittle over the edge of the tile.Becareful though because if you rub it to fast you can rip the paper.

Step 4: Get out you diamond glaze. Make sure that your scrabble tile is on a board or something that is stable so that you can move it to another place so that it can dry. You want apply the glaze by starting at the outside edge and move around in a circle until you reach the middle, be careful you need to move fast because the glaze comes out semi fast and if you move slow you will see when it dry that it will be uneven. Also make sure that you do not shake glaze because this cause bubbles and they will show up in your tile.
Then you want to let it dry for atleast a day without touching it at all.

Final step: once you have it finished you want to put the bail on the back. I would suggest using super glue for this because crafter glue dose not hold it on tight enough.

There you have it a custom necklace made just for you at a low cost and it is special because it was made by you.
