How to Make Unique Return Address Labels

Address Labels, Clip Art, Free Clip Art

Making your own unique address labels can be a lot of fun. If you are the type of person who likes to mail out letters and cards at least once a month, this would be a good idea. For this project you will need a computer and a printer. To get started you will first need to visit your local paper supply store. If you have a Staples, Wal-Mart, or Target in your area, any of these would be a good option. What you will be looking for are some blank address labels.

Once you have purchased your address labels you are ready to start designing. First you will want to utilize a spreadsheet program on your computer. If you have works or word they have label creating programs that you can open up and use. Once you have found the right program you can start creating your unique look. First you will need to enter all of your information. You will need your name, and of course your return address. The creative part comes in choosing how you want the letters to look first. There is nothing more boring than having plain old, “Times New Roman”, letter styling. Why not have your name in a different font than the rest of the information. You can even bold it and add some color to it. Just remember that whatever fonts style you choose it is still readable.

After you have finished adjusting and working on the lettering you can begin to add little border to your label. Borders do not have to be just for letters or envelopes. Address labels can look very nice and have a special unique look with the right border. You can create your own if you have a program on your computer that allows you to create graphics or you can use some of the clip art that is already on your computer. Most computers have clip art on them when you purchase them. There are also some websites that offer free clip art as well. You can do a simple Google search to find some free clip art.

Once you have chosen which clip art picture or pictures you want to use you can shrink them by adjusting the size. You simply click on the clip art and you will see the lines for the border of the clip art come up. You will then want to move your mouse over to the edge of the object. Then click and drag the edge to the right size. You can then drag the entire object over to the border of your labels. What is nice bout this is that you can use different clip art pictures and make a whole slew of unique return address labels.

Once you have finished creating your labels you will ant to print them out on a test page. Do not use the actual label paper the first time you re going to print them. You will ant to use a blank piece of paper to make sue that it is lined up correctly and looks the way you want.

This is a simple and fun project that you can even get your kids involved in. You will be surprised at how many unique and creative ideas your kids can come up with.
