• Just what is a Floating Cabinet?

A floating cabinet is simply a cabinet that mounts directly on your wall and doesn’t stand on legs or a base that touches the floor. They’re not a mystery; but, they certainly create a unique look in any room. The space between the floor and the cabinet produce the illusion that the cabinet is floating – thus the name “floating cabinet.”

If you long for a side board or buffet in a small dining area, but can’t afford to give up too much floor space, create a floating cabinet from two or three ordinary wall cabinets mounted with 12 to 16 inches of space between the bottom of the cabinets and the floor. Then top the set with a finished piece of wood or thick glass to complete the unit. It’s a budget-friendly way to provide for ample storage and serving space in a small room.
