How to Fix Dry, Frizzy Hair

Your hair is nasty and frizzy and you don’t know what to do. You’ve tried everything, or so it seems. Friends and family have given you recommendations and you are still having problems with your hair. My sister had the same problem and the bottom line is you need to realize your hair is a lot different than your friends and is unique. I have came up with a list of different things you may try to fix the problem that have worked for everyone I have recommended them to and have even went as far as “suggesting” my girlfriends use them.

IS IT YOUR STRAIGHTENER?

If your straightener is old, cheap, or not working well, this can be the problem. Try a new straightener and don’t be afraid to spend a little extra money on it because it’s a case where, what you pay for is what you get. When it comes to your hair you want to make good one time investments to make sure you look good day in and day out. Also, before straightening your hair it wouldn’t hurt to use a hair protectant that will not let straightening your hair affect your hair in any way.

ARE YOU WASHING YOUR HAIR TOO MUCH?

Now ladies, I know you are going to hate me for suggesting this, as you love to wash your hair and feel dirty if you don’t. But, If you are washing your hair too much it never gives your hair a chance to let the natural oils do there job and keep your hair moisture balanced. Try washing your hair every other day and see if that doesn’t just make all the difference. Once a week I recommend using a special conditioner, a conditioner that will no doubt cost more money but will work wonders on your hair.

HOT OIL MASSAGES

1. Mix 2 teaspoons of olive oil and 2 teaspoons of coconut oil and gently massage your scalp for about 15 minutes. Next, put a towel in hot water and wrap it around your head moving it around 2-3 times to issue total saturation. Shampoo and rinse. This is best used on dry hair.

2. Warm one half cup of castor oil, massage into scalp and gently comb it. Put hot towel on your head as stated above, but this time leave it on your head for about 30 minutes. Shampoo and rinse your hair now. This is best used on thin hair.

3. Mix 1/2 cup of green olive oil with a cup of liquid honey, shake until mixed. Now you must let the mixture settle for a day or so it is essential that you mix it well initially. Massage into hair without touching the scalp. Cover hair with air tight shower cap. Leave it that way for 25 minutes. Once again, shampoo and rinse well. This is best used for dark hair that is lacking shine.
