Choose a Vase

You will first need to pick out a vase that will fit in the space you have chosen to place the centerpiece. Do not choose one that will overwhelm the space, but do not choose one that will look tiny compared to the table or mantel you plan on placing the decoration on. A plain, clear vase usually works best. You do not need a vase that is overly decorative or intricate, because you will be adding your own flair to it.

Choose Flowers

Next, pick out some fake flowers. Think about a theme or idea you are trying to portray. This could be a beach theme, a holiday theme, a seasonal theme, or a theme based on colors incorporated in your home. Choose a few flowers that are comparable in size to the vase you have chosen. Also choose the number of flowers based on the size of your vase. You could also use fillers such as a grass-like material instead of choosing multiple flowers. The flowers do not need to be all the same color, but they should revolve around your theme you have chosen.

Choose Glass Beads

Pick some marbles, shells, or other filler material to place in the bottom of your vase to surround the stems of your flowers. If you have a beach theme, choose shells. Otherwise, find glass beads or marbles to place in the bottom to complement your flowers and vase. You should be able to find a package of glass beads for a low price which will fit in the vase quite nicely. These will surround the stems of the fake flowers and give increased color and interest to your centerpiece decoration. They do not need to be the same color as your fake flowers, but they should be complementary to the theme and colors.

Arrange Your Materials

Place your vase on a table. Begin by placing the fake flowers inside the vase and make sure the stems are pointing in the direction you want them to remain. You may need to trim the stems with a pair of wire cutters to get them to fit nicely in the vase. Hold the flowers in place as you begin filling up the vase with the glass beads or shells. Once you have filled it up a little ways, the flowers should be able to stay in place without you holding them. Move the glass beads around with your hand in order to get them to completely surround the stems. Continue placing the beads in the vase until it is filled to the amount you desire.

Put the Decoration in Place

Find the perfect place to put your centerpiece decoration. Set it down in several different places, stepping back to look at it in each setting. You may find that your original destination for the centerpiece is not your favorite place for it. Try different rooms in your home as well as different tables. Make sure that wherever you decide to finally place the centerpiece matches your theme for the decorative ornament. Some good places to try are on kitchen tables, coffee tables, mantels, and end tables.

Have fun with this creation! Make it uniquely your own and be creative! If you find that creativity is not your thing, have no fear. You could also purchase items like this from eBay or Etsy that are pre-made or in kits for you to create your own with a little help. If you are not good with choosing colors to match your decor or that complement each other, this may be a good option for you. Good luck and remember, this project should be fun! This should be a magnificent centerpiece that you can brag about to all of your friends who I am sure will be admiring your creation for years to come!
