How to Order a J Crew Wedding Dress

J. Crew, Wedding Website

J Crew always comes out with the most beautiful (and affordable) wedding dresses of the season. But are you wary of ordering a dress off the internet sight unseen? Here are some tips to ease your fears when ordering a J Crew Wedding Dress. And while J Crew has finally opened a wedding boutique in New York City, when I was wedding dress shopping last year, I had no way to try on or even see an example of my dress before buying it. However, I could not have been more ecstatic when it arrived. My J Crew wedding dress was of a super-high quality fit perfectly.

How To Order a J Crew Wedding Dress Online:
First off, it helps to know exactly what you’re looking for. You could easily fall in love with each and every wedding dress style the J Crew wedding website offers. Me personally? I was looking for a dress, not a gown. I wanted it to be long, but not super fancy. I was looking for simple, clean lines and a high waistline (since that is more flattering for me and my small bust).

In order to determine the type of dress you’re after … think about your wedding venue, the style, the time of day, etc. Also think about your body. Be realistic. You are not going to change dramatically between now and your wedding. Of course, you might start working out more and eating better … but your basic body shape will not change. So keep that in mind.

My mother sent me the link to J Crew’s Goddess Gown and I was instantly in love. It was exactly what I was looking for, and the price ($500 after shipping) was too good to be true. They have a generous return policy if you don’t like it… so I stopped into my local J Crew store to get the scoop on the dress.

The J Crew sales person put me on the phone with one of their wedding specialists. She told me the dress was measured by bra size, so I told her my size and I was surprised when she recommended a size smaller than my normal dress size. She said I should trust her, and I did. However, the dress wasn’t available for order yet. The sales people took my information and told me they would call when the dress was back in stock.

I waited and waited for about four weeks. The date when the dress was supposed to be in stock arrived … and no phone call. Being the proactive bride, I went ahead and ordered it online.

Up until this point I didn’t try on any other wedding dress. In fact, the J Crew Goddess Dress was the only wedding dress I tried on. I don’t know if that’s the right approach for other brides, but I found it to be quite freeing. The dress arrived impeccably shipped.

I was shocked at the weight and quality of the silk tricotine fabric J Crew used for the Goddess Dress. It was heavenly and the weight of the fabric made for fantastic movement when you walk in it. No detail was overlooked, the dress was constructed impeccably. Now for the moment of truth … I drank a couple glasses of wine, grabbed the dress and went to try it on. I was so happy I trusted the J Crew wedding consultant. It fit perfectly. Elated, I found my wedding dress and never looked back.

To review: know what you’re looking for, get measured in store, talk to the J Crew wedding consultants, order online, drink a glass of wine before you try it on, and enjoy!
