Skinny Cow Products: A Diabetic and Dieter’s Best Friend

Ice Cream Sandwiches, Nut Free, Skinny Cow

When diabetics and dieters eat, there is a constant reading of calories, carbs, fat and sugar content for each item on their plate. We plan eat meal through out the day carefully. We choose to eat the healthiest choice because we know that our health and weight come first. But when the meal comes to an end and the dessert tray comes around our will power might feel discourage when faced with chocolate lava cake and the decadent cherry topped cheese cake. Now don’t get discouraged because you do have healthy choices that are low in sugar, low in fat and low in calories as well as tasty!

Yes you heard right! A low calorie alternative that you don’t have to slave over a hot stove to bake and it won’t break your bank. Skinny Cow makes several different products such as fat free regular and chocolate milk, ice cream by the quart and cups, ice cream sandwiches, cones and bars. The Skinny Cow Brand products are located in the freezer section or dairy section of your local market.

Because of my healthy lifestyle, everyone in my home is on a healthy low fat and low calorie diet. This doesn’t always sit well with everyone who sits down to eat at the dinner table, especially when it comes to desserts. Ice cream is usually the last thing I put in my shopping cart. The average ice cream is over 200 calories for a regular serving size of half a cup with others going over the 400 calorie mark! Now my family will simply not give up ice cream and I am not willing to be drawn and quartered over the loss of ice cream by my family. An alternative had to be found so that I could have a happy family and still live. Of the ice creams on the market, by far, Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches are a hit with my picky family. The chocolate cookies that the fluffy whipped vanilla ice cream is nestled between makes an unbelievable large sandwich. The variety with no sugar added is made with Splenda and has only 140 calories per sandwich with 2 grams of fat and 5 grams of sugar. All of their products contain zero Trans fats which make this frozen treat perfect for your diet. Occasionally we will even have the low fat version which has 140 calories 5 grams of sugar and 1.5 grams of fat for the vanilla and chocolate combo pack. Skinny Cow offers their treats in many flavors.

The Skinny Cow chocolate milk and regular milk are both fat free milk and ultra pasteurized with only 110 calories for a one cup service and 34% more calcium than the leading fat free milk. This is great news for anyone who is a chocolate milk lover or someone who just can’t give up that cup of milk to have with their coffee and cereal. Granted, some fat free milk versions have fewer calories than Skinny Cow but they look like water and some just don’t taste like milk. I have yet to taste the Skinny Cow milk but if it tastes anything like their ice cream then I know I will not be disappointed.

Some of the products are gluten free, nut free and most are kosher friendly. The Skinny Cow products are not available everywhere so be sure to ask your store manager if you are interested and take print out of the Skinny Cow product list from the website. Skinny Cow does have their own website with complete data of their nutritional value on their ice cream products as well as point values if you are on the Weight Watchers program. You can even buy Skinny Cow merchandise like t-shirts, note pads, journals and totes with witty comments and of course that positively picturesque Skinny Cow. Need a few pointers for Skinny Living?
