Wintertime Activities: Family Filled Fun in North Texas

With cold weather here, there are many indoor entertainment options for the entire family.

FairPark:

Sitting on 227 acres, this is home to several historical landmarks such as the Hall of State building and is also the site of several museums. The Museum of Natural History, Science Place Planetarium Museum, Firefighters Museum, A Steam Train Exhibit, Starplex Amphitheatre. Another great place to visit at Fair Park is the aquarium. There you will see endangered green sea turtles, a giant alligator snapping turtle, eels and jellyfish just to name a few. This is home to over 5,000 aquatic sea life from all over the world. There is also an Amazon Flooded Forest Exhibit that features fish from the Amazon River. You can also watch shark and other fish feedings at scheduled times through out the day. The aquarium is open daily from 9am-4:40pm. Admission is $ 4.00 for adults and $ 3.00 for children ages 3-11. Children under 3 are free.

Located in the West End Market place, inside of this facility, you will find lots of fun entertainment. There is an adventure motion theatre ride, the tower of strength which stand 30 feet high, air hockey, Daytona race car driving simulators, arcades, an Old Wild West shooting gallery and much more.

Texas Indoor Speedway

Here there are two indoor go kart race tracks. One of the tracks are shaped just like Grand Prix Circuit Track and the other one is the Winged Outlaw Sprint Oval Track.

Adventure Landing

This facility offers family fun all year round, except for Christmas Day. Inside of here, you can enjoy arcades, go karts, miniature golfing, and laser tag. Batting cages are also available. Prices vary as to which activity you choose. They do offer specials on Monday and Thursdays from 10am-6pm where you can play unlimited miniature gold, laser tag and the arcades all for only $ 9.00 per person. On Super Saturdays you can play unlimited golf, laser tag and arcades for only $ 8.50 per person. There is one more fun attraction found inside of this facility. It is The Teddy Bear Factory where your child can design and create their very own unique stuffed animal pal.

For family entertaining that is filled with tons of fun, this is the spot.

Not only is this a place to grab a slice of pizza, you will also find arcade games, miniature golf, go karts, bumper boats and so much more. It is reasonably priced at $ 15.99 for an adult pass and $ 9.99 for Children’s pass.

Grapevine Mills Mall

Located just 20 minutes North West of Dallas, is the largest mall in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. Adults and children can enjoy an entire fun filled day. There is a lot of fun inside of this 1.6 million square foot mall. There are activities through out the mall especially for children. There are over one hundred top names in retail stores here. Inside of this rectangle shape facility, you will find 30 restaurants, so no matter what your taste buds want; you will find everything to satisfy everyone’s hunger.

You can enjoy a relaxed sit down meal in a restaurant such as Chili’s, Golden Corral. If you crave fast food, there is Steak N Shake and a Chick-Fil-A. Grab a yummy dessert or sit and enjoy a nice hot cup of java from Starbucks and bite into a warm gooey cinnamon roll from Cinnabon.

Go check out the Dr Pepper Star Center that offers figure skating or you may want to go play miniature lunar golf underneath black lights.

One of the coolest places to eat and one of the top attractions inside this mall is The Rainforest Café. This is not only a café, but there is also a retail center inside that is full of souvenirs, home accessories, games and lots of toys. The main feature to this café that makes it different from others, is the fact that there are live birds inside. As you walk through the entrance into the café, you can hear the birds singing and talking. There are toucans, macaws and cockatoos. Throughout the café, there are floor to ceiling trees and beautiful flowering plants.

Against one wall is a huge aquarium that is full of the largest fish you have ever seen in an aquarium. The atmosphere is relaxing because there are sounds of gentle flowing waters through out the café and with the birds singing their songs and all the green plants around, you feel as if you are sitting right in the middle of a luscious, rain forest.
