Bridal Bouquet Alternatives

Bridal Bouquets, Corsages, Flower Bouquets, Parasols

There are many reasons a bride may choose not to have a bridal bouquet for her wedding. Whether she is allergic to flowers, is on a strict wedding budget which does not allow for the fairly high cost of flowers, or simply wants to do something a little bit different, she may choose to not have a bridal bouquet. Or perhaps she will carry flowers herself, but would rather have her bridesmaids carry something else. No matter what the reason is, here are some unique bridal bouquet alternatives.

Parasols

A parasol, or decorative umbrella, can be an excellent choice if you are looking for a creative alternative to flower bouquets. Brides can also choose to carry a parasol or a bridal bouquet herself. Keep in mind that you will need to be having an outdoor wedding in order to choose this alternative to flower bouquets. Also be sure to consider what color parasols the bridesmaids should carry because opting for white would be taking the “light” away from the bride.

Feather Boas

Another cute alternative to bridal bouquets may be to have the bridesmaids all wear feather boas. The bride may choose to wear a feather boa as well, but it will look better if she actually uses a bridal bouquet. Feather boas can be a good option for brides who are going for a Hollywood wedding theme. Once again, be sure to choose a color aside from white for the bridesmaids so that she doesn’t steal the bride’s “light.” Red, black, and pink feather boas will all work nicely.

Corsages or Flower Baskets

If you still want to incorporate flowers into your wedding but want to try to go for something a little bit more unique, there are a few options. The bridesmaids and bride can wear corsages on their wrist or carry baskets filled with flowers or flower petals. This is an ideal choice for brides who just want to give their wedding a little bit of a unique twist.

Butterfly Bridal Bouquet

Purchase various colors and sizes of fake butterflies. Create a butterfly bouquet out of them. The easiest way would be to attach the butterflies towards the center to sticks, like chopsticks, or pipe cleaners. Just make sure that whatever you use remains hidden. As you get to the outside of the butterfly bouquet, you can begin attaching them using thread. However, it is important to make sure that none of the butterflies will fall off during the wedding ceremony. A good example of a butterfly bridal bouquet can be seen at this link.

Fake Flower Bouquets

Brides who are opting not to use traditional bridal bouquets because they have allergies or because they are not affordable may consider flake flowers. Lace or feather roses, which can be purchased online, could be a good alternative to authentic flowers. If you’re trying to save money on flowers, it could be ideal to allow the bridesmaids to all use feather or lace flowers and carry a real bridal bouquet yourself.

Brides who want to use a bridal bouquet alternative will want to be really creative. Whether you have seashells, colorful buttons and gems, or even feathers, it is likely that you can create something for very beautiful. It is also a good idea to think about what type of wedding centerpieces you will be having at the reception, as you may be able to create bridal bouquets which have a very similar design.
