Due to a risk of lead contamination in products manufactured in China, Fisher Price has issued a major recall of several lines of its popular toys. This recall affects specific toys manufactured at a certain plant since May 1, 2007. The paint on these products could contain amounts of lead that are higher than normal. When ingested, lead can be toxic causing adverse health effects. If you have purchased or been given any Mattel or Fisher-Price products containing Sesame Street or Nickelodeon characters, please check your products for the names and codes listed below.
Fisher Price and Mattel are cooperating fully with this recall, allowing consumers to check their websites for their recalled products, as well as telling them what to do if they discover they have the products. To see if your product was affected, you can visit http://www.fisherprice.com or http://www.mattel.com and look for the links about product recalls. Fisher Price is a division of Mattel. If you suspect your product is affected, Mattel will send you a brochure that will help you determine if your product is affected and a pre-paid postage label. Should your product be affected, send it back to the address provided using the pre-paid postage label and if your product is affected, Mattel will send you a voucher for the retail value within 6-8 weeks that will allow you to purchase any Mattel or Fisher-Price products from most national retailers.
