Are you having a birthday party and would like it to be themed but you just can’t choose? If your child likes Scooby Doo why not hold a Scooby Doo party. You can get the decorations and the cake easily. So all you need to do is plan the party and the games.
If Scooby Doo is one of your children’s favorite characters, you may have your next birthday party theme. My daughter loved Scooby Doo when she was younger. She would sit with me and we would watch the gang solve mysteries.
Scooby Doo has been around since before some of the parents were children. Mystery Inc. gang is all great characters that are timeless. You can make some great games based off the Scooby Doo theme for children to play at your party.
Scooby Doo plates, napkins, cups, and even tablecloths can be purchased at Wal-mart or Kmart. If you decorate with balloons go to the Dollar Tree to purchase a Scooby Doo or even the Mystery Inc gang balloon. Wal-mart and Kmart have the balloons but they are more expensive.
Don’t forget to pick up party favors. I bought the Scooby Doo party favors at Kmart along with the party favors bags. You could also use candy or toys for party favors. The cake can be purchased at almost any bakery. If you choose to make cupcakes you can purchase Scooby Doo decorations for cakes or cupcakes in the party section of the stores.
For a Scooby Doo birthday party theme, games are definitely a must. You can even make your own games. If the children are three or four they may like following clues to find a “treasure”. I recommend having a treasure big enough for everyone. You might want to fill a chest full of candy and let the kids know before they search that everyone has to share the “treasure”.
You can cut footprints out and place them in the direction of the lost or hidden object. You can also hide everyone’s party favor bag and have different colored footprints for the children to follow to find their own bag.
You can pin the tail on Scooby. Have a big poster size Scooby picture and make a tail to pin on him. If you aren’t any good at drawing you can find posters at the store or print them out from your computer to have enlarged.
Playing board games like Clue would be appropriate for older children at a Scooby Doo themed party. You may want to make up your own version and act out a “Scooby” mystery that your guests can solve.
If it’s a Scooby Doo themed party for toddlers try to remember to keep the games age appropriate. Not every child will be able to think fast. Play games that the children can do together so if one isn’t as familiar with finding clues he or she will be helped along by the others.
If the children are too young for games, maybe you will want them to play together. Give everyone the same party favors and hand them out when everyone arrives. Your Scooby Doo themed party should be kept age appropriate.
