Laura Profant

One instructor that you might be pleased with is Laura Profant. She has been influencing little musicians for over six years. She has received several awards, including the 2004 Musicianship Exam Award, the 2006 Musicianship Junior Festival Award, and the 2008 College of Southern Nevada Jury Honors Award.

Ms. Profant developed her piano skills with the acclaimed Doris Chase. (She was the president of the Nevada Music Teachers’ Association.) Before she moved to Houston, she taught lessons through S&K; Music Studio in Las Vegas, NV.

Kal Marshall

Another piano teacher available in the Houston area is Kal Marshall. Mr. Marshall has a BA in Music Theory from the University of Vermont. He comes from a very musically gifted family, and teaches piano, violin and cello. He has played in both high school and college orchestras.

Currently, for 2011, his rates are $60.00 an hour. He can provide lessons both in his studio, or in your own home. You can split an hour lesson into 1/2 hour sessions with different children. He teaches lessons to children ages 4 and up. Mr. Marshall provides adult lessons as well.

Bruce and Jenny Salyers

A third option for piano / music lessons in Houston is Bruce and/or Jenny Salyers. They are a husband and wife team. Jenny has over twenty years of experience and holds a Bachelor of Music degree. She has served as the staff accompanist at Ouachita Baptist University.

Mr. Salyers has a Master’s of Music Education and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree. They provide thirty minute lessons, once a week. The first lesson is free.

Joel Hammett

If you are looking for a piano teacher in the North Houston area, consider Joel Hammett. He teaches both piano and organ lessons, as well as music theory. He has a Bachelor’s Degree of Music from Baylor University and has over twenty years of experience in teaching and performance. For 2011, his lessons are $30 for half and hour or $50 for a full hour. Jen Rathbun
