THE SUGAR AND SPICE BABY SHOWER FAVOR

This baby shower favor gets it’s inspiration from the popular phrase “Sugar and Spice and everything nice”. In this favor, the spice is cinnamon and when mixed with the sugar it makes a delicious cinnamon sugar great for use in coffee or tea or sprinkling on toast, cereal or pancakes. Use recycled baby food jars or small canning jars as the container, add a colorful piece of material to the lid, tie with a ribbon, add a label and you have a the perfect baby shower favor for a little girl!

Materials

Empty, clean baby food jars with wrapper removed or small canning jars

Cinnamon

Sugar

Colorful material to match your color scheme or theme

Rubber bands

Ribbon

For every one cup of sugar use two tablespoons of cinnamon to create your cinnamon sugar mix. Fill clean jars with mix and replace cap. Cut pieces of fabric in circles about 4 inches in diameter. Place fabric circle over lid and secure with a rubber band. Trim if needed. Tie with a ribbon and glue on your label.

To make label: Labels can be created on any word processing program using regular white paper. Make several per page measuring 1 ½ x 2 ½ inches each then cut and glue with a glue stick onto the jar. The label should read:

This favor gets it’s inspiration from the famous song from Gigi, “Thank Heaven for little girls. For this favor, you will need an angel shaped cookie cutter which you may already have if you have Christmas cookie cutter supplies. If not, they are available on line year round. Give this angel a pink dress and flower halo complete with a cello bag, ribbon and tag and you have another perfect girl’s baby shower favor!

Materials

Sugar Cookie dough (use your favorite recipe or buy refrigerated dough)

Angel cookie cutter

Pink icing for dress

Yellow icing for wings and flowers

White and green icing to accent flowers

Clear cellophane party bags

Ribbon

Make sugar cookies and ice dress with pink icing. Make the wings yellows and add little dabs of yellow around halo to create flowers. Accent with white and green icing.

Place one dried cookie in a cellophane bag. Create the tag on a word processor. Use clip art or stickers to decorate. The card should read:

Add mother to be’s name Shower (i.e., Cindy’s Shower) and the shower date if desired

Use a hole punch to make a hole in the tag and thread with ribbon. Tie around bag and make a bow. Trim excess bag if needed.

BABY GIRL BOOTIE SHOWER FAVOR

This favor takes its inspiration from the popular saying, “A daughter may outgrow your lap but she will never out grow your heart.” We’ll substitute booties for “lap” but still get the same effect. This baby shower favor uses real baby booties which can be purchased at discount stores like Ross or Big Lots for about $2.50 for 12 making the per unit cost a little over .20 cents for each bootie. Add some candies wrapped in a small bag or tulle circle, ribbon and your tag and you have a beautiful, girl’s baby shower favor.

Materials

Candy filler (good choice- Milk Duds Strawberry milkshake variety)

plastic cellophane bags (available at craft stores) or tulle circles

Make tags on a word processor. Use clip art or stickers to decorate. The card should read:
