5 Self-Confidence Boosting Books

Over the years I have read many self-confidence boosting books, some because I was depressed, some because I attempted to be a salesperson, and some because of my struggle with Bipolar Disorder. I have learned so many wonderful things from each and every book. The books I am listing here today I have learned the most from and I continuously return to them for review and boosts to my daily life.

Self-Confidence Boosting Book #1

7 Habits of Highly Effective People – Personal Workbook by Steven R. Covey

I found this book for $1.00 at a local thrift store and having heard of it on TV and from friends, I couldn’t pass up the deal. That is the best dollar I have ever spent. Steven Covey covers how to make your home and work life better. He discusses how to schedule time for family and more specifically individual family members.

Many people view this book as great for a business person but not for everyone else. This assumption is completely wrong. A Highly Effective person can be a stock broker, homemaker, janitor, or a homeless person. Being Highly Effective simply means you know what you want from your life and you prioritize your goals. Each exercise in this book is about discovery of who you are, who you want to be and how to achieve it.

Self-Confidence Boosting Book #2

Influence: Science & Practice by Robert B. Cialdini

This was a college textbook of mine and it is an excellent tool in discovering why we fall susceptible to various advertisements, people and businesses. Not only do you learn why but you also build ways of changing your reaction to such influences. A must read if you fall victim to advertising campaigns or cannot say no to certain people.

Self-Confidence Boosting Book #3

How to Argue & Win Every Time by Gerry Spence

I spent weeks debating on whether or not to buy this book. What would people think of me? I don’t want to learn mind control or anything weird like that I just want to learn how to make other understand my point of view when having a discussion.

There is not one day that I regret purchasing this book. The author, Gerry Spence is a lawyer from Wyoming and he is not talking about brow-beating anyone into thinking like you. Gerry discusses how to listen better and how to put forth your opinion so that others will hear you and listen. They may not agree with you, but they will understand your side of the debate, because that is how you truly win an argument.

Self-Confidence Boosting Book #4

Little Green Book of Getting Your Way by Jeffrey Gitomer

I purchased this book during my stint as a radio ad salesperson. The salesperson job did not work out, however this book has along with the other books I have read by Jeffery Gitomer. There are two reasons why door-to-door sales people are so articulated and able to make you want to buy anything they have to offer: 1) They read Jeffery Gitomer books and 2) They have self-confidence.

Learn how to “Sell Yourself” as the friend, spouse, customer, boss, or co-worker by reading any or all books written by Jeffery Gitomer.

Self-Confidence Boosting Book #5

How to Win Friends & Influence People by Dale Carnegie

One of the oldest self-confidence boosting books on the market, this book is also designed for salespeople but is an excellent resource for anyone who wants to improve their interactions with others.

This book has helped me learn how to make friends and build relationships with people I barely know. I pick up this book quite often, especially when I begin to feel nervous about meeting or talking to new people. After reading a little, I begin starting up conversations with people in line at the post office or the grocery store. Connecting with other people on any level makes everyone feel better at the end of the day – boosting their self-confidence.

Most of these books can be found at your local bookstore or online at Barnes & Noble or Amazon. As you work your way through these books, I hope they do for you what they have done for my family and I.
