5 Alternative Uses for Masking Tape

If you have extra masking tape on hand, there are plenty of uses for it. Masking tape is one of the cheaper types of tapes they sell and it has a lot of uses. They come in big roles so you get a lot for your money. You can find masking tape at any type of store for a cheap price. Next time your out shopping pick up a role or two of masking tape, you won’t believe how many uses you will find for it in your home.

Alternative use for Masking Tape #1- Wood- Do you have home improvements going on in your home? If so, having some masking tape around will do you a lot of good. The next time you go to cut a piece of wood wrap a piece of tape around the wood at your cut line. Then when you cut, cut directly through the wood and the tape. Peel of the extra tape when you’re done and you will reveal a clean cut piece of wood. No more splinter ends or frayed wood.

Alternative use for Masking Tape #2- Lint Roller- When your in a pinch and don’t have a lint roller handy then masking tape will do the job just fine. It can pick up pet hair, lint and other small fine particles that may get onto your clothes. Just wrap some tape around your hand with the sticky side up and pat your clothes or roll your hand around your clothes. The lint and hair will stick to the tape.

Alternative use for Masking Tape #3- Crayons- If you have little ones at home who love to color then you know how many crayons you go through because they color to hard and break the crayons in half. Before you give them a new crayon to play with try wrapping half the crayon in masking tape. You should wrap the part where their fingers sit. This will make the crayon stronger and you will end up with less broken crayons.

Alternative use for Masking Tape #4- Glass- If you need to remove a glass from your windows so you can redo the caulk or to fix something else then using masking tape you can make the glass stronger by using masking tape. You just simply need to place masking tape across the glass by making a large X. Starting from corner to corner. This will strengthen your glass structure so it’s less likely to break when moving.

Alternative use for Masking Tape #5- Signs- If you have some masking tape you can use it to make signs. If you have a few colored markers then you can make a sign that pops off at you. Just rip off the tape and form the letters that you want on the sign. If you want, you can then color in the tape although it’s not necessary especially if you’re using a dark back board.
